Getting a Glimpse: Valor

By: Jaclyn Cascio (@jaclynator)

The coming fall television schedule looks to have more than its fair share of military-themed shows, and The CW is on the bandwagon with its new show, Valor. Find out a little bit more about the upcoming project to see if you want to tune in to the show this fall!

The new military drama for the network (produced by CBS Studios) is written by writer-musician Kyle Jarrow, who will be executively producing alongside Beauty and the Beast’s Bill Haber. The pilot, directed by Michael M. Robin, was ordered in February 2017 and in May it was officially ordered to series, adding The CW to the list of networks producing military shows. (Other examples include Fox’s Behind Enemy Lines and NBC’s The Brave).

Valor will be going a slightly different direction than some of the other similar shows premiering this fall. The Atlanta, GA-filmed show will fall into a conspiracy thriller genre, with the lines between military discipline and human desire becoming blurred. Centered on an elite unit of helicopter pilots who conduct clandestine missions both in the U.S. and outside of it, Valor exposes secrets surrounding the unit. Through present and flashback story-telling, a failed mission involving one of the first female pilots of the unit will lead to the uncovering of secrets throughout the season and an eventual plan to rescue a group of MIA soldiers.

Valor will star Matt Barr and Christina Ochoa as leads, with supporting cast including Charlie Barnett, Corbin Reid, Melissa Roxburgh, Nigel Thatch, and W. Tré Davs.

No episode count for the first season of Valor has been released yet, but expect a wild and thrilling ride, no matter the length of it!

How do you think Valor will fit into The CW network brand? Does it look like a hit or a flop?
