Clark Gregg Joins Spinning Man Film Adaptation

By: Michaela Bush

If you happen to be looking for a thriller movie featuring the guy we all know and love and whose first name is “Agent,” you might want to check out Spinning Man, a book-to-movie film coming sometime next year.

Clark Gregg (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Much Ado About Nothing) was recently cast in Spinning Man and will play the character of Paul, a lawyer who provides legal help to the main character Evan (Guy Pearce).

This film is a thriller adaptation of the novel by George Harrar, adapted by Mathew Aldrich. The novel — and film — is about Evan, a “devoted family man” and philosophy professor who, in actuality, has had affairs with several of his students. When a young woman is murdered, Evan becomes the prime suspect — and that’s, of course, where Gregg’s character comes in.

The release date is set for 2018. Keith Arnold and Ellen S. Wander are producing the film with Simon Kaijser directing. Tara Finegan, Jeff Geoffray, and Christopher Tricario are serving as executive producers.

Pierce Brosnan has been cast as Malloy; Minnie Driver as Evan’s wife, Ellen; Odeya Rush as Joyce; and Jamie Kennedy as Ross. Noah Salsbury Lipson (Fuller House) will play Evan and Ellen’s son, Adam Birch. This is one of several films that Pearce is currently working on, including The Catcher Was a Spy.

In an interview with Variety, Brosnan, who is also working on numerous films at the moment, has stated that Spinning Man, “[is] Hitchcockian…in Simon’s [Kaijser] hands, it has a spellbinding, bleak menace to it.” Brosnan’s character, Malloy, is described as a tenacious Irish detective in charge of the murder investigation that Evan is drawn into.

The film is currently in post-production, but an exact release date has not yet been released.

Has anyone read Harrar’s 2004 novel? Is anyone looking forward to this film?
