Get your fedoras and whips out, guys. Fresh information for the 5th Indiana Jones movie was just announced!
There’s not a lot of information out as of yet, but Steven Spielberg is the executive producer and director, with David Koepp writing the screenplay. Obviously, Harrison Ford—who will be 77 years old at the release date of this film—will be starring. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are producers for the film.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.” Walt Disney Studios chairman, Alan Horn, explained.
George Lucas is also credited for his involvement with the characters (the writing of, naturally), along with Philip Kaufman. However, it is yet to be announced whether or not he will be involved with the story. Spielberg has promised fans that he would not move forward with the film if Lucas was not involved, so it’s quite likely that we’ll see him working on the film from that aspect as well.
Additionally, John Williams is going to be composing the score for the film, as he has done for the previous films.
More information, such as other cast members, title, or synopsis have yet to be revealed.
We will not have seen an Indiana Jones film in, at the time of the release, 11 years; the last one being the 2008 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Some fans cynically believe that the film will be terrible, following the footsteps of the apparently not-so-popular fourth installment of the franchise. Still others are confident that this movie will serve as redemption for the fourth movie. Nonetheless, mark your calendars and pre-order your tickets for July 19, 2019 –when the film is slated to hit theaters. Who’s excited for the release—and what are your thoughts: is it an opportunity to see another great Indiana Jones film, or just a blunder?
