Why have actors who can sing if you’re not going to take advantage of their talents?
That’s exactly what The Flash and Supergirl executive producer Greg Berlanti is doing during a two-part crossover event on both shows next year, it was announced at the Television Critic’s Association Press Tour this week. This is in addition to the previously announced four-way crossover between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
The Flash and Supergirl star Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist, respectively, both of whom previously starred on Glee. Supergirl’s Jeremy Jordan and The Flash’s Jesse L. Martin and Carlos Valdez have Broadway backgrounds, with Jordan starring in Newsies, Martin originating the role of Tom Collins in Rent, and Valdez appearing in Once and is a member of Team StarKid. John Barrowman and Victor Garber are also among those who boast singing chops.
Berlanti said the characters will sing preexisting songs, but is open to one original song per episode. There’s also a chance the singing could happen in the characters’ heads. No word on who the villain of the week will be, but Berlanti said there are some “obvious ones.”
The crossovers will happen in the back half of the season, around early 2017.
Will you be tuning in?
