First Look at Trailer for New Terrence Malick Film Voyage of Time

By: Haylee Fisher (@haylee_fisher)

Terrence Malick is known for big, ambitious films. His fans are also used to a long wait between his projects – there were five years between his first film, Badlands, and his next, Days of Heaven, and then 20 between it and The Thin Red Line. Malick lives up to his reputation with his upcoming documentary Voyage of Time, which was originally announced over a year ago and that he has been working on for decades.

Voyage of Time is a loose tie-in to one of Malick’s more recent films, The Tree of Life, and according to Wild Bunch is “…a celebration of the earth, displaying the whole of time, from the birth of the universe to its final collapse. This film examines all that went to prepare the miracle that stands before us now. Science and spirit, birth and death, the grand cosmos and the minute life systems of our planet — all come together in Malick’s most ambitious film to date.”

Voyage of Time will be released in two formatss and re-teams Malick with two of his former stars: a 40-minute IMAX version narrated by Brad Pitt of The Tree of Life; and a 35mm, full-length one narrated by Cate Blanchett, who starred in Knight of Cups.

The trailer for the former version has just been released; here’s your first look:

Voyage of Time will be released in October.
