Zachary Levi Joins the Cast of Psych: The Movie

By: Michaela Bush

Look alive, Psych-Os — and Chucksters! — the upcoming Psych: The Movie just made an epic announcement, and of course they did it in true Psych style.

Dule Hill (Burton Guster) tweeted a video filmed with James Roday (Shawn Spencer), and the video included none other than Zachary Levi. He has been cast as the “Thin White Duke” in the upcoming holiday film, and is described as a “ruthless, mysterious, and dashing villain of the highest order.” (Here I want to note their use of ‘dashing’ — first the “dashing thief” Flynn Rider, then playing Fandral the Dashing in Thor: The Dark World, now the “dashing villain” of Psych’s new movie…I’m noticing a pattern here.)

In the video, Hill and Roday held up a pineapple and asked their fans, “Real quick — pop question. What’s this called?” To which Levi walks up behind them and says, “I believe that’s a pineapple. Isn’t that right, Chucksters?” and slips off camera. Obviously, the two TV shows host a love of the fruit: in Psych, there’s usually a pineapple or a photo of one somewhere in each episode, and in Chuck, of course, “pineapple” was a code-red emergency phrase used in the Buy More.

I’m pretty sure Hill and Roday’s response was the same as every Chuck fan — “Whaaaaat!”

Psych: The Movie will premiere on USA Network in December 2017, and original cast members including Timothy Omundson (Lassiter), Maggie Lawson (Juliet O’Hara), Corbin Bernsen (Henry Spencer), and Kirsten Nelson (Karen Vick) will be joining Hill, Roday, and Levi. Robert LaSardo has also been cast as a character named “El Proveedor.” The movie is written by Steve Franks and James Roday, with Franks directing.

With the Psych cast back one more time and Levi added to the mix, it’s certain to be a fantastic (and funny) TV movie! Are you looking forward to the new Psych movie — and seeing Levi play a villainous role?
