Apple Unveils iPhone 7

During Apple’s yearly keynote event this year, Apple, as expected, announced a new addition to the iPhone family. The iPhone 7, due for release on September 16th, tweaks around with the aesthetic and internal technology of the device. Without further ado, let’s jump right in with everything that’s new:

KEY INFORMATION COVERED

  • Water and dust resistant
  • Stereo speakers
  • Lengthier battery life
  • New home button
  • Upgraded camera
  • Removal of headphone jack
  • A10 Fusion chip with a 64-bit four core CPU

CAMERA

The new camera on the iPhone 7 has a 6 element lens with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. The camera is 60% faster than previous iPhone models. The iPhone 7 has a single lens camera, while the 7 Plus has a dual lens camera for wide angle and telephoto shots. Also on the 7 Plus is a new portrait effect that adds depth of field to your photos. The camera enhances low light capabilities, giving it the potential to take even sharper photos than previous models. Both models have 4K video recording capability, including live editing of video files. Last but not least, the front camera has been upgraded to take higher quality selfies!

WATER-RESISTANT

The iPhone 7/Plus is also water-resistant with an IPX67 rating, meaning the phones can withstand being immersed in up to 1 meter of water for up to thirty minutes. This is a bold and smart move for Apple.

BATTERY LIFE

These new models have the largest battery life of any iPhone. On average, an iPhone 7 will last two hours longer than a 6s, and an hour longer than the 6s Plus. The 7 lasts 14 hours on Wi-Fi and 12 on 4G, while the 7 Plus lasts 15 hours on Wi-Fi and 15 on 4G. Battery life has consistently increased with newer models.

INTERNAL CPU

The iPhone 7 will be powered by Apple’s new Apple A10 Fusion, which contains a 64-bit 4 core CPU. It is forty percent faster than the A9 software that the 6/6s models were running on. Graphics are also improved.

NEW HOME BUTTON

Apple has redesigned the home button this time around, making it a force sensitive touch that is powered by a “Taptic Engine,” which delivers vibration feedback as you use it.

HEADPHONE JACK REMOVAL

Apple has finally done it: they’ve killed the headphone jack. The iPhone 7/Plus will be packaged with a pair of Lightening EarPods, which connect through the charging part, and wireless Apple EarPods will be sold which will be powered by a W1 chip. Battery life is supposedly 24 hours.
