Rogue One Complete Track List Announced

By Loud Josh

If you opened up my iPad right now, you’d find that over 90% of the music I own comes from movie and television soundtracks. An amazing soundtrack can make a mediocre movie enjoyable and a bad soundtrack can leave an excellent movie feeling forgettable. A masterful soundtrack can transport your mind, body, and soul from your theatre seat into an entirely different universe, the one inside the screen.

To say that Michael Giacchino has his work cut out for him in writing the music to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is an understatement. John William’s scores for Star Wars Episodes 1-7 are at worst iconic and at best legendary. That said, I fully believe Giacchino is up to the task. His score for Star Trek (2009) reinvigorated a dying series and the soundtrack to Up melts my heart every time I hear it. While Alexandre Desplat might have been the studio’s first choice as composer, but it’s clear that Giacchino knows what he’s doing, and I for one, am incredibly excited to hear what he has to deliver.

To that end, a track list for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released today. If you want to know nothing going into this movie, I suggest you stop reading now as minor spoilers are unveiled through the titles of the tracks.

1. He’s Here For Us (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
2. A Long Ride Ahead (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
3. Wobani Imperial Labor Camp (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
4. Trust Goes Both Ways (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
5. When Has Become Now (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
6. Jedha Arrival (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
7. Jedha City Ambush (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
8. Star-Dust (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
9. Confrontation on Eadu (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
10. Krennic’s Aspirations (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
11. Rebellions Are Built on Hope (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
12. Rogue One (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
13. Cargo Shuttle SW-0608 (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
14. Scrambling the Rebel Fleet (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
15. AT-ACT Assault (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
16. The Master Switch (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
17. Your Father Would Be Proud (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
18. Hope (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
19. Jyn Erso & Hope Suite (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
20. The Imperial Suite (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)
21. Guardians of the Whills Suite (From “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”/Score)

I for one am looking forward to Star-Dust, as anyone who has read “Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel” by James Luceno knows, “Stardust” is Jyn’s nickname from her father Galen. How that comes into play? I have no idea! And its amazing!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theatres December 16, 2016 and the soundtrack will be released the same day!

Agents of SHIELD: The Laws of Inferno Dynamics (Review)

By Lauren Scott (@FreedomNotFate)

Episode eight picks up again with Eli Morrow and we are finally shown what he’s been up to. The crazed, mad scientist has created a dangerous weapon underneath the city of Los Angeles. We learn throughout the episode that the weapon sitting under the heart of the city is, to no surprise, extremely unstable. Also, the reason for that is because Morrow had been messing with almost every given element on the periodic table to gain control so that he can play god.

Mace reluctantly allows Coulson to compose a tactical team of inhumans to send in after Morrow to see what they’re all up against and how they can best confront the rising threat.

Yo-Yo, (Elena) Daisy and Robbie are chosen to be sent to investigate Morrow. After Yo-Yo temporarily withdraws due to a few minor injuries, Robbie goes in to confront his uncle. He wanders in but Reyes is assaulted both times he tries to attack, preventing the Ghost Rider from surfacing. Viewers are given a bit more information behind Morrow’s motives of why he chose to do what he did as Reyes gives up trying to attack, and calls his uncle out on the reasoning behind his betrayal.

The Laws of Inferno Dynamics wraps up with the team taking out Morrow, but losing Reyes (Ghost Rider) in the process, although Coulson hints that we haven’t seen the last of him when Daisy voices her concern.

Coulson: I wouldn’t count out the previous owner just yet.
Daisy: Do you think Robbie will make it back?
Coulson: The last Ghost Rider did.
Daisy: Wait a minute. Wait. What?
Coulson: Long story. Regardless, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Mr. Reyes.

This episode hinted at multiple Marvel extended universe references that I want to discuss briefly. First, in the dialogue mentioned above, Coulson is describing the previous Ghost Rider, which is most likely alluding to Johnny Blaze. There is also brief mention of “Ultron” when Aida is finally brought to Director Mace’s attention.

Speaking of Mace, the new director of SHIELD finally explains to the team his motives behind working suspiciously with one of the United States senators (who is publicly outspoken against SHIELD and the inhumans) when the they confront him about it. Viewers were aware the whole time since we were shown Senator Nadeer blackmailing Mace into helping her, in return promising she wouldn’t release the confidential footage to the press she had on hand.

Finally, I’m beginning to wonder if the writers are maybe going to tie in Blade (Eric Brooks) from the comic book universe. It was brought to my attention, once the Darkhold was confirmed in the first few episodes of season four, that the book actually is very heavily tied in with not only the vampire world in the comics, but also the Doctor Strange universe.

The very last few moments of this week’s episode really heightened those predictions after the way May was suspiciously shown, as well as the locations of her few minor injuries that Aida was attending to.

Overall, The Laws of Inferno Dynamics was able to tie up a few minor plot holes while also managing to still leave viewers in suspense until the series returns in January of next year. The acting was well done, the special effects did not disappoint during the episode and I really loved the small allusions to other parts of the Marvel Universe.

What did you all think? Any further predictions for where the writers could be steering the show this season?

Arrow: What We Leave Behind (Review)

By: Ashley Binion (@ashleybinion)

“What We Leave Behind” was a top-tier episode of Arrow. It had twists on twists, excellent fight scenes, clear character development, and fun character interactions.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Gosh, Prometheus is one fantastic villain and what makes them so special is that this person has spent years planning their takedown of the Green Arrow. They are so invested in killing the emerald archer that the stakes are much higher for Oliver and Team Arrow. It isn’t simply saving the city from disaster from villains in two past seasons. It’s personal.

The slow motion shots during Green Arrow and Prometheus’ first encounter in “What We Leave Behind” was pure gold. I adored the first shot of the throwing star slicing the arrow and then they out did themselves with the cool slo-mo flip off of the table. It was awesome. Arrow wants us to believe that this person is Justin Claybourne’s son, but for some reason I have a feeling it’s more complicated than that. And what was up with the shot of the reporter lady’s Russian vodka?

Billy’s death was a shocker. Considering how minor his character was and that no one really cared about him, he was clearly expendable. I just didn’t expect Oliver to be the one to kill him, especially this early in the season.

Through the unfortunate death of Billy, Arrow showed how it has exponentially matured. If this event would have happened in season three or four, there would’ve been a completely different conversation in the Quiver. Oliver would have hid the truth from Felicity. Or, if he would have told her the truth, she would have blamed him for the detective’s demise. It was brutal to watch Oliver tell the team, especially Felicity, about what happened out in the field. The imagery of watching the team physically step closer to Oliver after his speech was fantastic. Stephen Amell crushed that scene.

The drama between Curtis and his husband, Paul, was a development that happened out of nowhere, though I appreciate how it was handled. Up until this point, we have had little information about their relationship except a throwaway line or two. On top of that, we’ve only seen Paul once or twice. If we had gotten to know Paul, their separation would have had a much greater impact.

I absolutely adored the season one flashbacks in this episode. They were so nostalgic with the original Hood suit, the grease eye paint, IT Felicity, and The List. The parallels between the season one Hood killings and Oliver’s present day walk through the same location was beautifully shot. It has been said this season is the last one for flashbacks. I would tend to agree that the device has run its course. However, seeing how inventive and nuanced the season one flashbacks were, I wouldn’t be opposed to them continuing in season six. We never did see Oliver finish scratching names off of the list.

Lastly, you want a twist? The show gave you a couple in “What We Leave Behind,” but the one in the last act was a doozy. Laurel’s return was so unexpected, I audibly gasped. I don’t know what to think of the alleged return. Is she really alive? Could it be a residual result from his alien capture? Is she a Laurel from another Earth? So many questions, but we will have to wait for answers until 2017.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
