This morning, Disney Channel released the first look at Tangled: The Series, a continuation of the beloved animated film that sees Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore reprising their roles as Eugene and Rapunzel, respectively. The series follows Rapunzel who “acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom and the people of Corona.” We’re already on board, are you? Let us know in the comments if you’ll be tuning in!

Original Book Nerd Mara Wilson Has Written a Memoir

By: Carolyn Deas (@carolyndeas)

You all know who Mara Wilson is, even if you don’t realize it. She is best known for her roles as Nattie in Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda in the movie based off of the book of the same name. Based on the information I’ve gathered by following her on Twitter for a while is that everyone had a crush on her at one time.

I waited all summer to read this book and I’m proud to say I was the first person to get the book from the local library.

In the memoir, she gives readers a glimpse into the life of a child actor. It includes learning about new things at a young age (sex, I’m just going to say it, sex), dealing with losing a parent, and finding out that Hollywood may no longer want you.

My favorite chapter was when she writes a letter to the character Matilda and apologizes for hating her at one point. She didn’t realize the character meant so much to so many people and she isn’t ashamed to be recognized as the little bookworm anymore.

What I loved about this book is that is dives deep into issues that most people don’t want to talk about. She was diagnosed with OCD at a young age after she read the book “Kissing Doorknobs” and brought it to her father’s attention. Likewise, I realized I had OCD and Asperger’s Syndrome after watching the TV show Parenthood. That’s why it’s important for people to speak up about their mental illnesses. It lets people know they aren’t alone and may make them realize that they need help.

Mara has come to terms with her time in Hollywood, but she’s staying busy by writing and being an active member in the community.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Nerdy News Bites 10/7/16

by Veronica “Roni” Sepulveda (@vRONIs)

Hey, nerds! Welcome to another week of nerdi-licious news bites!

rw8mg

10 Logan

The lovely Hugh Jackman sent twitter crazy, revealing the name and banner for the next Wolverine.

More importantly, this happened and I almost spit out my drink.

9 Iron Fist

I was hoping something would pop up at the end of Luke Cage about Iron Fist, but we didn’t have to wait long for a sliver.

8 SDCC Registration News

For those eligible for Returning Registration, the process will occur sometime in early 2017. You should’ve received an email with this information. If you didn’t, log-in to your SDCC account and check your eligibility status.

7 Unfortunate Events

The first teaser was released this week.

6 Dead Men Tell No Tales

A teaser for the next Pirates was released.

5 Harry Potter

All 8 movies will be returning to theaters for a week this month starting on October 13th! See more information here.

4 The Batman

It was revealed this week the “tentative” title for Ben’s solo film is The Batman. See more here.

3 Game of Thrones

A sneak peek of the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience was released and I am so excited!!!!!

2 Doctor Strange

A new TV Spot was released and we may have gotten a peak at him using the Time stone.

1 Mulan

I typically don’t make these with a hierarchy, but my number one news bite this week was the official word that Disney was making a live-action Mulan. The potential is strong for this live-action Disney movie. The announcement of a global search to find a Chinese actress to portray her is afoot. This seems like it should be obvious, but we live in a time where official confirmation of these things is important. I just can’t wait until Winter of 2018. See more here.

giphy-1

You know the drill nerds, let me know what you’re excited for this week! What did I miss?

Nerd On!
