What to Expect from Marvel’s Black Panther

By: Michaela Bush

A Disney press release issued this week presented a lot of great information for the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman as King T’Challa. On top of the poster and epic teaser trailer they released (see below), there’s also a brand new synopsis that you’ll want to check out:

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically-advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king — and Black Panther — is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of the Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”

We also know that T’Challa will be teaming up with Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) as well as members of the Dora Milaje — women who are Black Panther’s personal bodyguards — and Wakandan Special Forces in order to defeat Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan). The trailer also shows quite a bit of footage surrounding Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis), so I imagine that we’ll be seeing plenty of him throughout the movie as well.

The brand new teaser trailer shows us a glimpse of the tech we’ll be introduced to in Wakanda, and it also looks like Marvel has gone all-out with developing the culture of Wakanda and the costumes, not to mention the CGI. Additionally, the poster appears to display T’Challa in all his glory — as Black Panther and as the King of Wakanda.

What do you think of the new synopsis and trailer? What are you looking forward to the most in Black Panther?

Black Panther will be released February 16th, 2018, just over 8 months from today.
