What to Expect from Marvel at D23

By: Michaela Bush

Soon, Disnerds.

This year’s D23 expo will take place next month. As always, it’s going to be chock-full of great panels and probably some exciting news about upcoming films. If you’re a Marvel fan, you’ll want to mark your calendar as well, because there are some pretty interesting events planned out for the Marvel side this year. On Friday, July 14, Joe Quesada, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, will hold a Cup o’ Joe panel on “everything Marvel,” according to the D23 website. The same day at 6 p.m., Marvel Animation will hold a panel featuring exclusive footage, guests, sneak peeks, and discussions on the future of Marvel’s animated TV shows.

You’ll also be able to check out the costumes and props from the upcoming films Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther (releasing November 2017 and early 2018, respectively). Marvel Studios will also be hosting giveaways and events that weekend, and you may even be able to meet Marvel’s filmmakers, talent, and development teams. You’ll also get a chance to take pictures with set pieces from Thor: Ragnarok. (Whosoever be worthy of wielding Mjolnir, photographic evidence is requested.)

If you’re into the gaming scene, you’ll also be able to try your hand at several new games in the Marvel Games Pavilion, as well as playing them as Spider-Man, the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and others. These new games include LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, Marvel Puzzle Quest, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, MARVEL: Future Fight (at the Netmarble booth) and Marvel Heroes Omega, the lattermost of which is a cross between RPG and MMO style gaming, and it’s going to include a ton of Marvel’s greatest heroes. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will feature a variety of single-player modes and fantastic multi-player content. It is set to be released September 19th, 2017.

Keep up to date on D23 Expo news, including more details for the Marvel panels, through their app! Pack your weekend bags for the Anaheim Convention Center next month, July 14-16, if you plan on heading over to D23 this year.

Who’s looking forward to D23 and why? Who plans on going to both D23 and SDCC?
