Getting a Glimpse: For the People

By: Jaclyn Cascio (@jaclynator)

ABC has more than its fair share of new shows coming to television for the 2017-2018 season. One of those new shows coming –
reportedly at mid-season – is American legal drama, For the People. Get a glimpse of the ABC show here and see if it’s worth waiting for!

Created by Paul William Davies (Scandal), the show brings another Shondaland production to the network as Scandal reaches its final season. Executive producers Davies, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Michael Landon, and Janice Williams bring For the People to the network, and it honestly looks a bit like a Grey’s Anatomy in a courtroom. (Considering the mass following behind Grey’s Anatomy, the comparison isn’t necessarily a bad thing.)

Take a look at the trailer for the show here:

For the People follows new lawyers as they defend or prosecute on high stakes and well-known cases in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) Federal Court, lovingly called “The Mother Court.” Their lives both inside and outside the courtroom intersect and are not without drama.

ABC’s For the People will star Ben Rappaport (as Seth Oliver), Anna Denvere Smith (as Tina Krissman), Ben Shenkman (as Roger Gunn), Hope Davis (as Jill Marcus), Wesam Keesh (as Jay Dawson), RegĂ©-Jean Page (as Leonard Fox), Susannah Flood (as Kate Littlejohn), and Vondie Curtis-Hall (as William Byrne). The pilot, directed by Tom Verica, also starred Britnie Olford and Lyndon Smith, but rumors are circulating that their characters will be dropped or recast for the series.

Will you be watching the drama unfold on For the People on ABC in the 2017-2018 season, or is your DVR schedule already packed?
