Star Wars: Rogue One Arrives on Blu-ray April 4

By Michaela Bush

We are one with the Blu-ray, the Blu-ray is with us. Or will be soon, rather.

Star Wars: Rogue One’s Blu-ray release is just over a month away, and the special feature list was just announced. The release will include a slew of them, including:

“A Rogue Idea” –John Knoll explains the movie’s concept and explains why this is the time to launch stand-alone films in the franchise.

“Rogue Connections”—Easter eggs, anyone? It explores the film facts that connect Rogue One to the Star Wars universe.

“Visions of Hope: The Look of Rogue One” –the filmmakers explain the process of developing the bold new movie while keeping it true to the original trilogy’s world.

“The Princess & The Governor”—this covers the process of bringing a young Leia to life once more, as well as Governor Tarkin.

“Epilogue: The Story Continues” –in which the filmmakers and cast celebrate the movie’s premiere and contemplate the future of the Star Wars franchise.

Viewers will also be able to dig deeper into the characters of Jyn, Cassian, Baze & Chirrut, Bodhi & Saw, and K-2SO in special features.

This release is probably one of the highest-anticipated Blu-ray releases so far this year. Even the cover art is amazing. However, there’s one little issue with the release…

Despite the plethora of Blu-ray features promised with the movie, there’s no sign of deleted scenes or director’s commentary. This comes as a surprise and a bit of a disappointment, especially because the movie underwent extensive reshoots.

As usual, retailer exclusive packages will also be available: Target offers collectible packaging and exclusive bonus content in a 5-disc set including a 3D-Blu-ray. Best Buy is offering a 4-disc set with Steelbook packaging, and Walmart is offering a 3-disc set with exclusive packaging and Galactic Connexions trading discs. If you pre-order from the Disney Store, you’ll have the chance to get limited edition lithographs.

Star Wars: Rogue One is set to be released on Digital HD March 24th, with the Blu-ray/DVD release coming out April 4th.
