Gal Gadot Reveals Wonder Woman Photo Behind-The-Scenes Of BvS

By Karen Valenzuela, @VictoriaNoir89

Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman in DC’s Extended Universe, released a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Batman V Superman to celebrate #ThrowbackThursday!

For all of the mixed reviews Batman V Superman received from critics when it hit theaters earlier this year–you can read our review here–Wonder Woman’s first live action big screen appearance ever was generally received very positively. In spite of only being in only a few scenes, one of those scenes showcased not only Wonder Woman’s epic fighting abilities and official Wonder armor, but also how much she thoroughly enjoys a good fight.

Her appearance in Batman V Superman brought DC’s Holy Trinity–Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman–together to battle Doomsday in the climax of the film. Whether you enjoyed the film or not, the moment when the three heroes came together on screen to face their overpowered foe was chills-inducing (or scream-inducing if you were like me; sincerest apologies to everyone in the theater with me that night). And while Batman and Superman were handling their roles as superheroes with different degrees of disillusionment and tentativeness (it’s complicated, watch the film), Wonder Woman serves as the perfect foil to her male counterparts, aware that great responsibility and duty comes with having powers, embracing that responsibility, and fighting Doomsday with what almost looks like a certain degree of excitement. This is a woman who loves a good fight, even if she understands the seriousness of the situation.

The picture Gal Gadot released on her social media has Wondy in pure battle mode, her infamous sword raised against the arm of a stuntman decked out in a motion capture suit who is more than likely filling in for Doomsday. The face she is making is as intimidating as it is beautiful. Gadot added the caption “Watch out” with a sweet smiley face, which makes it that much better. And if you’ve seen the film, Doomsday really didn’t know what he was getting himself into going up against Wonder Woman. Her gifts come from the gods, so good luck, buddy!

Batman V Superman provided us a sneak peak of what we might expect in Wondy’s solo film coming out in the summer of 2017. Compassion, justice, love, power, strength, wisdom, and more came through in just the few Diana Prince/Wonder Woman scenes we were gifted in BvS. But Wonder Woman will take place before the events of BvS, all the way back during World War I in the 1910s. According to director Patty Jenkins, this will be an origin story, so there will be significantly less wisdom involved since she’s lived in peaceful Themyscira for centuries, and she’ll certainly be much less world-weary than we see her in BvS. Warner Bros. released the first Wonder Woman trailer at San Diego Comic Con 2016 to rave reviews (watch it here), and the second trailer was released a few weeks ago (here).

Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2, 2017, and she’ll be back again for DCEU’s Justice League, which comes out later that year on November 17.
