What We Know: First Kill

Star Wars meets Die Hard in a new action/thriller flick coming later this week. Okay, it’s not exactly a hybrid movie, but it does bring Hayden Christensen and Bruce Willis together, so there’s that! If you’re intrigued, keep reading to find out more about the upcoming movie, First Kill.

Written by Nick Gordon and directed by Steven C. Miller, First Kill began principal photography in August 2016 in Granville, Ohio. Produced by Randall Emmett, George Furla, and Mark Stewart, the film is the first of a two-picture deal Hayden Christensen signed with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Pictures. First Kill is the third movie pairing Bruce Willis with director Steven C. Miller (following 2015’s Extraction and 2016’s Marauders). Not to mess with a winning combination, this film almost marks the fourth collaboration between director Miller and producers Emmett and Furla.

First Kill brings hot shot Wall Street broker Will (Hayden Christensen) to his childhood hunting cabin along with his wife, Laura (Megan Leonard), and his son, Danny (Ty Shelton). Trying to reconnect with his son, Will takes Danny out for some manly bonding while hunting. However, their family time takes a terrible turn when father and son witness a murder amongst a band of robbers out in the woods. When everything goes wrong for the criminals, they kidnap Danny and force Will to help them evade the police chief (Bruce Willis) and his team while trying to recover their bank heist loot. How far will a father go to get his son back?

Christensen, Willis, Shelton, and Leonard are joined by Gethin Anthony (as kidnapper Levi Barett), Tyler Jon Olson (as Tom), Jesse Pruett (as Officer Lewis), Chris R. Moss (as Officer Cox), Shea Buckner (as Charlie), Magi Avila (as Adèle), William DeMeo (as Richie), and Chelsea Mee (as Tammy).

Distributed by Lionsgate Premiere, First Kill is slated for a limited theatrical release and same-day digital download on July 21, 2017. It may be a modern-day version of “straight to video” release if you aren’t in one of the theatrical release locations, but if R-rated thrillers with nerd icons and classic action heroes are your thing, give First Kill a look!
