Shinsengumi vice captain Toshizo recounts his youth as an aspiring swordsman and his budding relationship with captain Kondo. Later, Kondo, Toshizo and Tominaga Sei, a female samurai living as a man, confront internal strife when money goes missing from the Shinsengumi’s coffer.
