Getting a Glimpse: Somewhere Between

By: Jaclyn Cascio (@jaclynator)

This May, ABC announced more than its fair share of new shows for the 2017-2018 television season, but their drama mystery show Somewhere Between has been on the docket for a bit longer and will be hitting screens this summer. Get the scoop on the new series coming to the Alphabet network right here!

Somewhere Between is set to be a summer series for ABC Network, likely a replacement for the series Mistresses, which was cancelled. The show is based on the Korean mystery TV show God’s Gift: 14 Days. Written and adapted for American television by Stephen Tolkin (Legend of the Seeker), the show was announced to have a ten-episode straight-to-series order for the network.

Executively produced by Tolkin, Ivan Fecan, Joseph Broido, Tim Gamble, and Matthew O’Connor, Somewhere Between began production in Vancouver, Canada in March 2017 with Thunderbird Entertainment (in association with ITV Studios America).

No trailer is available for Somewhere Between just yet. But we aren’t totally in the dark! The new show is a mystery drama with a splash of science fiction thrown in for good measure. Mother and big time San Francisco news producer Laura Price (Paula Patton) is as sane as they come. But she knows for certain that her friendly and big-hearted eight-year-old daughter Serena (Aria Birch) is going to be murdered. Laura doesn’t know who the murderer is or why they would want to hurt a girl who makes friends so easily, but she does know when, where, and how the grisly death will occur. With the strength and love of a mother, Laura sets out to fight against fate and save her daughter from a terrible destiny. Will Serena be saved or is fate too strong?

Supporting cast for Somewhere Between includes J.R. Bourne (Teen Wolf) as Laura’s husband Tom, a powerful state district attorney; Devon Sawa (Casper) as Nico Jackson, a former cop turned private investigator; and Serge Houde (The Kennedys) as Richard Ruskin, the governor’s experienced chief-of-staff.

Has the show caught your interest? If so, you can tune in this summer! Somewhere Between is slated to premiere July 24, 2017 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
