Coming to ABC this fall is The Gospel of Kevin, a fantasy dramedy sent from heaven. What happens when angels start recruiting people to save the world? Get a glimpse of the upcoming show right here!
Of the 23 pilots ordered by ABC for the 2017-2018 season, only a handful rose to the top to get the coveted series orders in May. The Gospel of Kevin, created and executively produced by Agent Carter’s Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, won a spot with the network, and the hour-long episodes will begin airing this fall!
The pilot, directed by Paul McGuigan, introduces us to the life of Kevin and his unexpected visit from heaven by a tough angel. Check out the trailer for yourself!
So here’s the 411 on The Gospel of Kevin. Kevin Finn (Jason Ritter) is self-centered and a little clueless. When his life takes a turn for the worse, Kevin heads toward tragedy. (Rumor has it that his downfall begins after losing a lot of money as an investor in NYC for a wealthy client and a subsequent attempted suicide.) Kevin heads to Texas to stay with his recently widowed sister Amy (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and niece, Reese (Chloe East). Before he can settle in and get his life together, the unexpected happens. His first night there, Kevin finds himself recruited by an angel who enlists Kevin to “save the world.” (The angel, Yvette, was played by Cristela Alonzo in the pilot, but the character is being recast for the series, unfortunately.) Will the assignment give Kevin a purpose for his life by helping people? You’ll have to watch to find out!
The angelic-themed light drama series will also star J. August Richards as Nate, Dustin Ybarra as Tyler, and India de Beaufort as Kristin.
The Gospel of Kevin is scheduled to air Tuesday nights at 10/9c on ABC this fall. What do you think of the new show? Is it touched by an angel or will it end up in the hell of cancelled shows before the season is over?
