News broke Monday that The CW’s Supergirl is officially casting Superman. In a statement released by the series’ executive producer Andrew Kriesberg, it was revealed Superman will appear in the first two episodes of Supergirl’s sophomore season.
For those who have watched the series, Kara has occasionally exchanged texts and instant messages with her famous cousin. He even appeared as a young Kal-El on Krypton. However, until now, his face has been obscured from view by either distance or lighting choices.
Fans have been buzzing about which actor will take on the iconic role. Some have suggested Tom Welling (Smallville) return as Clark Kent. This may pose a continuity problem as Laura Vandervoort famously played Supergirl while on Smallville. Vandervoort has since appeared on Supergirl as the villain Indigo. Others are suggesting Matt Bomer (White Collar) don the red cape.
