Batman: Return To Arkham Delayed Indefinitely

Warner Bros. Games made a somber announcement today, declaring that the remasters of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, called Batman: Return to Arkham, have been indefinitely delayed. Here is the official statement from Warner Bros. Games forum moderator Steve Grayson regarding the delay:

“After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience.  We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready.   We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”

While this news is surely disappointing to many, it’s a lot better than having a mediocre remaster. Take Prototype I-II for example – the remaster was hotly anticipated, but it ended up looking like a simple emulator of the Xbox 360 version. The whole point of a remaster is to make the game fit in with the modern generation of graphics. I am a bit surprised by this news though, particularly due to the trailer for Batman: Return To Arkham, which shows huge improvements in gameplay and graphics. Nevertheless, it’s better that the studios take their time to deliver a quality upgrade rather than release an average presentation.
