15th Annual Free Comic Book Day is This Weekend

As we all know, comic books are awesome. They can take us to faraway lands, they can introduce us to superheroes, and they can make us reflect on our own lives through complex storytelling. But you know what could make them even more awesome? If they were free. And they will be this weekend during the 15th Annual Free Comic Book Day.

Comic shops across the world will participate in the day’s festivities, with many offering costume contests, autograph signings, and giveaways.

Fifty titles will be available at Free Comic Book Day this year including Archie, Suicide Squad, Doctor Who, DC Super Hero Girls, and Spectrum from Alan Tudyk’s Con Man. Additionally, there will be two special Captain America comics, including Civil War, to tie in to the movie’s release.

Free Comic Book Day will also mark the beta launch of Comic Con HQ, an online streaming service that will deliver content like weekly news shows and original content, but perhaps the biggest draw is 24/7 coverage of this year’s San Diego Comic Con through live-streamed programming, delayed airings of select Comic Con panels, and more.
